person watch should notify users they're being watched.

I tested this out on two different users following a discussion about it earlier. Added them to my "watched" list and neither of them was informed of the fact.

This means that the onus rests on people to remain aware of who might be "watching" them and to then ignore them if they wish.

I don't know whether, if the user in question was not logged in, the site would generate an email to inform them they were being watched, but I do know that if they're logged in then they're not informed.

People are informed when they're being ignored, they should be informed when they're being watched.

SB, I fully agree with you on this one... I wonder why people aren't being informed?

I completely agree.

i agree as well. i usually make it a point to ask someone if i can add them to person watch before i do so, but i don't think everyone does.
I've thought of the idea of having it so someone had to allow you to put them on person watch, kind of like how lj or facebook does it, or what twitter does for protected accounts.

I very much agree, Claire. this should have been done a long time ago. I'll pass it on to the admins, who are the only ones who have the power to implement such a feature. That's all I can do, and I will. Hopefully it will get acted upon.

I sure hope so; I know someone has me on person watch that I don't know...so it'd be nice if we could get notified.

fighter, it is possible to put people who have you on personwatch on ignore. just click the ignore button under their name in your personwatch list (the ignore button appears there even if you have ignores disabled within your account settings) and they won't be able to see you log in.

I agree with this suggestion as well. I check who has me on person watch from time to time for this reason. If you don't want people who have you on Person Watch to know you are logged in at a specific time, and you are premium, you can log in invisibly and then just become visible.

O okay. I didn't know that would actually work. I thought it would let them know when you came visible. Thanks for the info.
